Roadmap

Where CrewStage is going.

CrewStage connects London fringe and independent productions with emerging backstage and technical talent. This page sets out the full scope: what exists today, what we are building next, and what we have deliberately decided not to build.

Live now

Everything below is on the site today, running on sample London fringe content while accounts are being built.

Gig discovery

Search and filter real backstage roles by discipline, experience, compensation, borough, dates, production type and commitment.

Transparent compensation

Every gig breaks down fees, expenses, estimated hours and what is covered, so nobody has to guess what a gig is actually worth.

Opportunity quality checks

Listings are assessed for clear pay, reasonable experience requirements, defined responsibilities and honest hours before they go out.

Venue technical snapshots

Capacity, desks, speakers, mics, projection and rig information on the gig page, so crew know the room before they apply.

Crew profiles

Skills marked as Learning, Comfortable or Advanced, plus kit, credits, portfolio, availability and what each person is looking to learn next.

Production and company pages

Productions show filled and open roles. Companies carry trust profiles with crew reviews and would-work-again rates.

Building next

The MVP foundation: accounts, posting, applications and the trust signals both sides need.

Accounts and profiles

  • Sign up as crew or producer
  • Edit and publish your profile
  • Dashboards for both sides

Posting and applying

  • Guided gig creation flow
  • Lightweight applications with one real question
  • Shortlisting, messaging and hiring

Availability matching

  • Crew mark available, maybe or unavailable
  • Gig dates compared automatically
  • Availability percentage shown on matches

Reviews and reputation

  • Structured signals both directions
  • Reliable, prepared, paid on time, safe environment
  • Worked together and would work again indicators

The roadmap ahead

The larger bets, in roughly the order we expect to take them.

  1. 01

    AI Crew Planner

    Planned

Describe your production: venue, style, capacity, cast size, live music, projection, radio mics, budget. Get a recommended essential and optional team with realistic budgets, then generate the gigs in one click.

  2. 02

    Match scoring

    Planned

A transparent percentage on every match, weighted across role, availability, experience, location, compensation, skills and previous working relationships, always with the reasons shown.

  3. 03

    Direct talent search

    Planned

Producers search for sound designers available in October and invite them directly, so good technicians are not stuck constantly applying.

  4. 04

    University layer

    Planned

Institution pages for LAMDA, RADA, Guildhall, Rose Bruford, Central, Goldsmiths, Mountview and UAL. Profiles link to courses, and departments and societies publish opportunities to their students.

  5. 05

    Credit graph

    Planned

Every completed production produces structured credits, building a map of London theatre: who designed where, who calls which shows, who keeps working with which directors.

  6. 06

    Producer plans

    Planned

Technicians stay free forever. Producers get a free tier, a per-production pass with the Crew Planner and direct invitations, and a company subscription for teams and unlimited productions.

Deliberately not building

Focus is the strategy. These are good products for someone else, and saying no to them is what keeps CrewStage useful.

Ticket sales and audience listings

Audiences are a different marketplace. We exist for the people backstage.

Audition casting

Casting has its own tools and its own politics. Our wedge is technical and backstage crew.

Rehearsal and production management

Scheduling software is a separate product. We stop at helping you find the right people.

Payroll and contracts

Employment admin belongs with specialists. We make the terms clear, others handle the paperwork.

Film and TV crew

Different rates, different unions, different world. Staying theatre-only keeps the fit sharp.

The long-term picture

Every gig creates structured data about people, productions, skills, venues and working relationships. Over time CrewStage becomes the talent and production-relationship layer underneath London theatre: the place that knows which emerging designers worked at which venues, who is ready for their first design credit, and which teams love working together.
